FACES Career Initiation Grant
Career Initiation Grant 2008
Georgia Tech was recently a recipient of a National Science Foundation Graduate Education and the Professoriate Grant. The goal of the award is to assist universities in developing programs to increase the number of minorities pursuing advanced degrees in engineering and science. In particular, the program will aim to increase the number of underrepresented students pursuing careers in academia. One facet of this program is the FACES Career Initiation Grant. The program will provide two $30,000 "Career Initiation Grants" to promising doctoral graduate students that accept a tenure track faculty position in engineering or science related field at a U.S. college or university. These funds are intended to assist newly minted Ph.D's at an early stage in their academic careers. The grant can be used to purchase research equipment, and support graduate and/or undergraduate researchers.
