Kwaku Eason
Kwaku Eason is currently a PhD student in the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering. Son to Beryl J. Davis, M.S., R.N. and Djsovi Eason, Ph.D, he is a native of the metro-Atlanta area, growing up in Decatur, Georgia. Mr. Eason earned a B. S. in mathematics from Morehouse College and a B. S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), both in 1997. Upon graduating from his Georgia Tech/Morehouse undergraduate, he worked for Corning, Inc. for 3 years as a manufacturing engineer in two of Corning’s fiber optics manufacturing facilities, earning two corporate awards for his work. He returned to Georgia Tech in 2000 for graduate school to pursue both a Masters and a Ph. D in mechanical engineering. He is in the automation and mechatronics sub-group of the school of Mechanical Engineering. His research area is development, modeling and simulation of micro-magnetic and sub micro-magnetic field detectors, under of the academic advisement of Professor Kok-Meng Lee. He is a member of the national and GT chapters of IEEE, the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), and the local chapter of the Black Graduate Student Association (BGSA). In addition to currently being a FACES fellow at Georgia Tech, Mr. Eason has also been a GEM Fellow and a STEP fellow in his graduate career at Georgia Tech.
His hobbies include community service and building a stronger community. He has founded and participated in numerous tutoring and mentoring programs, since undergraduate. He has also served on the executive committee as Community Relations Chair and President for the Georgia Tech chapter of the Black Graduate Student Association.
His career interests include joining the engineering professoriate to teach mechanical engineering, with emphasis in automatic control systems and controls applications, both in the classroom, and in research, as well as continuing his commitment to building a stronger community.
