Uzoma Onunkwo

 

 

Uzoma Onunkwo was born in Knoxville, Tennessee. He is a native of Nigeria and did his pre-college education in Nigeria. In 2001, he received his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Engineering with highest honor (valedictorian) at Stevens Institute of Technology, New Jersey. At Stevens Institute of Technology, he was a student member of Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineers (IEEE) and National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). He was also the 2000-2001 president of the school’s Iota Delta chapter of Eta Kappa Nu, the Electrical and Computer Engineering honor society. In 2002, he received his Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. He is currently pursuing his PhD in the school of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology. His current research interests are in the area of digital communications and signal processing. He has worked in the area of channel estimation, channel modeling, signal detection, interference suppression, timing jitter and location estimation for wireless communication with more emphasis on ultra wideband (UWB) systems coupled with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). He expects to finish his program in December 2005/May 2006. Among his honors and awards are member of Tau Beta Pi, the Engineering Honor Society, and Eta Kappa Nu, the Electrical & Computer Engineering Honor Society; recipient of National Science Foundation (NSF) Fellowship, Georgia Tech’s Presidential Fellowship, and the Facilitating Academic Careers in Engineering and Science (FACES) Fellowship.
