Annica Wayman
Annica Wayman is from West Chester, Pennsylvania. Following high school, she attended the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) where she received her Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering. While at UMBC, Annica was a Meyerhoff Scholar as well as part of the Minority Access to Research Careers Undergraduate Student Training in Academic Research (MARC U*STAR). Annica directly entered the Ph.D. program at Georgia Tech in Mechanical Engineering with the desire to do research in bioengineering. Current she is conducting research in the area of cellular adhesion focusing mostly on the primary adhesion that occurs during inflammation, thrombosis and cancer metastasis. As a graduate student she has been recognized as a National Science Foundation and GEM fellow. Her goal is to use her engineering technical skills to positively impact society.
